Apache!!!! I LOVE this song. Late great Danish Pop King Tommy Seebach. What I REALLY want to talk about is "Apache" by Jerry Lordan (of The Shadows.) UK guitarist Bert Weedon recorded the number, and in the U.S. it was done by Jorgen Ingman, another Dane. A LOT of people have done this song: The Ventures, Davy Allen and The Arrows, Incredible Bongo Band, The Sugarhill Gang. Scooter did a trance music version of this in 2005. Apparently, Europeans can't get enough of it. Now you need to put up "Popcorn" by Hot Butter. Tommy Seebach in Hell? No way...not with that groove he's got going. Great way to kick off the holiday weekend, Phil.

Indeed, and with fringes on top.

Thank you Cube.

We also know it down here as the Atlanta Braves home-run music (played whenever a Brave hits a homer).

Hey Phil. You think that guy looks like a cross between Freddie Mercury, and that magician Doug Henning? http://www.doughenning.com/

Posted by: Bon at September 2, 2006 5:26 AM

BTW, the fires of hades are also lapping at Henning.

APACHE!!!!!!

Posted by: Jinxy at September 2, 2006 6:01 AM

I just KNEW Jinxy would be grooving on it. Perfect pick. This made me go to You Tube and watch The Shadows do "Foot Tapper," Link Wray doing "Rumble," circa 1978 and The Cramps doing "Bikini Girls with Machine Guns," and "Like A Bad Girl Should."

Thank you for making me laugh out loud. Oh, and I have it waaaaay over those girls with dance moves. I grew up watching a healthy dose of Shin Dig and Hullabaloo, after all.

Posted by: Phil at September 3, 2006 9:57 PM

..and Bon, yes, certainly Doug Henning is roasting in the fires of Hell for his sorcery and black magic.
