Battle of the Blog Stars
Tonight! On "Battle of the Blog Stars", your favorite blogging All-Stars "The Playaz" will pit themselves against the "Washington D.C. Blog-Stars" in feats of athletic prowess....

The Playaz, captained by Gabe Kaplan, will compete against various D.C. area bloggers in several 'made-for-tv' events such as the "Tug O' War" and "Canoeing"! Stay tuned!

Now for a word from our sponsor:
OK, we're back!
The Playaz fall behind early in the "Tandem Bicycling" event. Bloggers I-66 and Marci take an early lead before bloggers formerly known as Unique Alias and Rhinestone Cowgirl surge ahead. Their love for each other was channeled into some furious pedaling, defeating the Playaz team of Larry Holmes and Dian Parkinson. A poor decision having the 275 lb. Holmes take on this event. Let's see if they can rebound.

We're on to the swimming competition, where Hammer and the Captain will team with Kathryn and Namaste in this 400m relay event.

Unfortunately, it appears the Playaz relied on an aging Lynda Carter to anchor their relay team, and have lost yet another event, falling behind two events to none.

Kathryn (wearing Playaz-issued see-through bathing suit), "Team Playaz" captian Gabe Kaplan, Kenny Rogers, and Phil share a laugh following the swimming event
In the 100 meter dash, Bon wins handily thanks to performance enhancing steroids, which are actually encouraged in these events.

And we'll be right back after this quick commercial break:
Before the commercial break, the Playaz closed the gap, as we move on to the "Dunking Booth".

Phil entered the tank for the Playaz, taunting Team D.C. with each throw. Hammer is successful in dunking Phil on several occasions, but Team Playaz pulls this one out with the razor sharp-accuracy of Phil Niekro, dunking Team D.C. members repeatedly and even beaning several of the D.C.'ers who were reluctant to re-enter the tank.
With the score all tied, we move to the final event of our "Battle of the Blog Stars" with the Tug-'O-War.
The Playaz have pulled out a secret weapon, with the Cube 9000 serving as anchor for the Playa Team!

With a 15,000 lb. capacity built-in winch, the Cube 9000 easily handles Team D.C. The Playaz win!
Tune in next year when Kathy Lee Crosby joins Team D.C., as new contestants are sure to emerge to try and topple the Playaz!

All those speedos, I'm fanning myself, and not just my face!

Um, I do believe the Cube 9000 would be on the other side of the rope. And I think the technical term is the Washington Cube 9000!

You forget, Cube works for us.
Plus, it was a nice ratings gimmick.

damn. i was hoping to enter the yoga competition...

I feel so left out being a Philly blogger.
Commodore Vic 20... I had one of those.

Sorry, Steve - don't forget Larry is an Easton, PA native. And I understand from his website that he is now available for personal appearances. Perhaps he would meet you for dinner (for a small fee).

Flattering picture, reminds me of my college days when i actually looked like that. And even in this photo, Travis still makes me looks like a doughboy by comparison. The man is cock-diesel.
I think next year, we may want to redistribute our athletic resources in D.C., it will improve our chances of vistory.
For instance, I might consider removing Jinxy from the 100 yard dash and inserting him as the anchor to our Tug of War team, this photo suggests that would be a good idea (credit: Hammer)
P.S., a special thanks to Hammer, Kathryn and Namaste for carrying me through the swimming event.

Unrelated to this post, but now that the fight is over, how soon can you start manufacturing Barbaro Chow? My Pug needs some extra energy that can only be given with a thoroughbred boost.
Posted by: The Captain at January 29, 2007 5:02 PM
Surfing the internet for buff pictures of Jinxy?
"Cock Diesel"?!?!
There is no longer any doubt. The Captain is completely and utterly gay. I'm filing a restraining order right now.
Posted by: Hammer at January 29, 2007 6:57 PM
Interesting idea Hammer...but I think you miss several key points. Cock-diesel is a term used in gyms. I would have said that you need to see the inside of one to criticize, but the picture in this post would say that you have.
Secondly, you created and hosted that picure of Jinxy, I just mentioned it.
Thirdly, in our picture above, you have an odd smile on your face, and you appear to be grabbing my ass. Not only am I considering filing a counter order, but there's some serious infighting in this team now.
Posted by: The Captain at January 29, 2007 8:56 PM
Come on, now. There's plenty of gay to go around for everyone.
And not to worry, Captain, Barbaro Chow will finally...finally hit the market.

Once again, Phil's mediation skills prove worthy and true.
By the way, if you see Susan Lucci, send her to my trailer immediately along with massage oil and a bottle of your finest malt liquor.

I work for The Playaz.

I would have won that sprint, but it turns out the comet dust I had purchased was actually just Comet.

I know I am injured, but I so would have taken you fools in the 100-meter dash!
Although I am not so sure how I would have fared if I had spied the gorgeously hairy Phil before the race.
