Dream interpreters welcome
I had a strange dream last night. Usually my dreams revolve around subjects typical of a dream (I am pantless, or flying, or falling, or toothless, or having sex...all of which are a part of my everyday life) - but it's as if this one was trying to tell me something. It was rife with symbolism, but I can't figure it out. Not to get all "Hammer" on you, but I figured I'd post it and see if any of you could make sense of it (this is a real dream, by the way):
I am at my grandmother's house. There are various people around - some family members, some people I don't know. We are loading two trucks with furniture...not my grandmother's furniture, but furniture belonging to an elderly couple who I feel like I know, but I can't identify them in my dream. Each truck has identical furniture in the back, topped with two identical rocking chairs (the chairs closely resemble a rocking chair I had that belonged to my long-deceased great grandmother).
Before the trucks leave, the old couple asks to remove the rocking chairs, so they can sit in them, somewhat "ceremoniously", as if it were the last time. The people gather around and applaud when the couple sit in their respective chairs.
Then, my grandmother emerges from the back of the house. Presently, my grandmother is in a nursing home battling dementia, a shell of her former self. In my dream, she is fully restored to the last time I knew her before she became ill. Healthy and fully aware of her surroundings. My mother and father are there as well. My mother continually tries to turn my grandmother away from my father while we are talking, as if to prevent her from seeing him (my father has alzheimer's). Then, my grandmother wants to dance with me.
All the while, a black bird has been stuck in a screen door. It's beak is caught, punctured through the screen. From a distance, it is not a very attractive bird and no one pays much attention to it. Finally, I approach the bird. Up close, it has red and yellow color around it's wings, and under it's beak. It's apparent the bird is severely injured. The netting on the screen has wrapped around it's beak. I try to get it to pull away, thinking it will free itself if given a nudge backward. However, each time it moves, the screen netting acts as a snare, tightening around the birds beak. You can see it has begun to cut into the bird and has created a nasty wound.
The bird begins to speak in my daughter's voice. It cries that it's nose and ears are in great pain. As I try to figure a way to free the bird, I wake up.
